In collaboration with Jane Irwin Landscape Architecture and McGregor Westlake
Entry in International Competition
2007
A competition scheme for a new urban and landscape strategy
for Canberra Central that builds on the existing order and underlying intent of
the Griffin Plan to improve the access and connection from the city to the
parklands. The project involves the integration of park and place by expressing
the natural systems of landscape and settlement history. It seeks to unify the
place of dwelling, work, recreation, traffic and landscape within Canberra by
defining a visual link between the memorial places, the city centre and the
residential areas beyond. The diversity of landscape enhances the importance
of the Constitution Avenue and
orientates itself around the lake, while opening itself up to small hides to
create an active street life. |
